Georg Dokoupil: Venetian Bubbles 2.5

The winner of the Karl Ernst Osthaus Prize 2024, Georg Dokoupil, will be showing his solo exhibition “Venetian Bubbles 2.5” in the Neue Galerie and the Central Hall of the Osthaus Museum from November 30, 2024 to February 23, 2025. The exhibition is curated by Reiner Opoku. The artist’s first large sculptural works made of glass, nine large-format paintings, works on paper and 20 small-format soap bubble pictures are on display. Since the late 1970s, the artist has been mixing soapy water with pigments and positioning the soap bubbles on a canvas covered in paint, controlling their bursting in such a way that complex organic imprints are created.
